If someone can help me explain to my coworkers how it was possible to spend that much money on a 16 ounce coffee, I'd appreciate it. To the baristas, if someone comes in and says, "whatever, just wake me up," maybe say, "okay, but it's going to be near $17." I've been told that I was probably an easy mark since I was barely awake. Update: everyone I've asked said that $16 for a coffee was insane unless it had alcohol. But $16 and change? That just feels like they took advantage of my barely-awake state. I'm happy to report that it was indeed one of the best cups of coffee I've ever had. So, I paid it, tipped a couple of dollars and left thinking, this coffee cost me more than $1 per ounce so it had better taste like the best cup of coffee I've ever had. I was shocked when the barista said my total was $16 and change, but I'd make a commitment that the barista had quite cheerfully accommodated. I said something to the effect of, "I need a 16 ounce latte, with an extra shot of espresso and, you know what? I don't even care what's in it. I'd been working late the night before, on only a few hours of sleep and bleary-eyed, I stumbled into Thunderbird Cafe.
